Duration

18 - 24 months until competencies are achieved. Clients will be required to complete 240 hours of work placement.

If combining CHC30113 - Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care with this diploma course then the total fee is $6000

Entry requirements

All clients enrolling in this course will be over the age of 18 and literate in both written and spoken English.

Language, Literacy and Numeracy

All students will be assessed on their Language, Literacy and Numeracy needs and will be provided with extra tuition and support if the institute deems necessary.

Course Description

This qualification reflects the role of early childhood educators who are responsible for designing and implementing curriculum in early childhood education and care services. In doing so they work to implement an approved learning framework within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard.

They may have responsibility for supervision of volunteers or other staff.

We anticipate clients for CHC50113 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care will be

  • More likely to be clients who have been working in the Child Care Industry and wish to progress
  • High level of literacy and language

Examples of indicative job roles for clients seeking entry based upon their vocational experience include:

TCA provides Recognition of Prior Learning for existing workers in the industry who are seeking formal qualifications. Clients may wish to avail themselves of this option, and can do so at any time and should be encouraged to contact with their Child Care trainer.

Assessment Methods

This qualification is delivered “institutionally” in a formal classroom setting either in the classroom at the TCA facility or in a suitable classroom at the client premises. Either classroom will allow for simulated workplace environments as part of the learning program.

Simulations will be where appropriate and will be used to foster and develop understanding of the course content and material. Final assessment for all units will be based upon the workplace, and as documented later will include a combination of observations, interviews and project tasks as appropriate for each unit of competency.
