Course Description

This qualification reflects the role of workers in a range of early childhood education settings who work within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard. They support the implementation of an approved learning framework, and support children’s wellbeing, learning and development. Depending on the setting, educators may work under direct supervision or autonomously.

The outcome for this qualification is either the CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care or, should the participant depart the course before it has been completed, a Statement of Attainment for the units in which competency has been demonstrated.

The target group for CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care are typically existing Childcare workers, or new entrants seeking to become recognised childcare workers. They can be of either gender, but most are women; they can be of any background and nationality. Many will be working in the role of carer in a Day Care Centre or Family Day care and thus often will be looking after small children, sometimes one of the children in the Family Day Care will be the Childcare workers own.

Examples of indicative job roles for clients seeking entry based upon their vocational experience include:

  • Early Childcare Educator
  • Outside School Hours Care Assistant
  • Playgroup Supervisor
  • Recreation Assistant
  • Family Day Care Worker
  • Nanny
  • Childhood Educator

Assessment Methods

The student is required to achieve competency in all eighteen (18) units in order to achieve the CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.
